Controversial animal rights group, PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has stirred up some shit again. PETA has created a travelling campaign to compare the way that human beings have treated each other over time with the way that animals are treated now.

As a sign of progress since the Civil Rights Movement, PETA has relied mostly on images of African-Americans being mistreated during slavery and throughout history to make their point. It is the belief of PETA that slavery was bad and mistreating animals is bad so the connection was just waiting to be made. One exhibit, entitled "Hanging" shows a strung up piece of pre-simmered steak next to an African-American lynching victim.

Presumably, neither wanted to be in that position.

As expected, the exhibit has drawn the ire of, you guessed it, people in the Black community.

"This entire concept of equating us once more with animals is not acceptable," said Angela Rivers at the DuSable Museum. She also attempted to add police brutality, redlining in the housing market, and substandard education to her statement but was told those things weren't relevant since the Millions More March scheduled for mid-October in Washington, DC, was supposed to take care of those problems.

Louis Farrakhan was unavailable for comment.

In an attempt to explain the position of PETA in efforts to not get jackslapped in the inner city of any major city, an anonymous spokesperson for PETA stated, "The animals of the world were not made for people any more than blacks for whites or women for men." However, when asked about whether or not the campaign unintentionally implied that animals and Black people were interchangeable, the spokesperson, emphatically said "No" while winking twice and nudging another anonymous PETA spokesperson.

Johnny-come-lately civil rights organization, the National Assocation for the Advancement of Colored People, was not amused at the trivialization of human life. While wearing a mink coat, the NAACP's Phillip O'Bannon stated that there were other ways the exhibit could have gone about without minimizing human suffering, and that juxtaposing animal mistreatment with the mistreatment of African-Americans was just gotdamned wrong. He continued to state that his closet looked like a pet cemetery, but was quickly quieted by his press secretary. After a brief pause, he stated he was only quoting known PETA Public Enemy Number One, Cam'ron, in attempts to show how horrible animals can be treated.

PETA spokeswoman Dawn Carr stated, "Our intention is not to hurt anyone. Our intention is to raise awareness." When told to get a clue, she became confused asking if anybody could recommend a good store where a clue could be purchased.

PETA has considered apologizing for any hurt feelings but was careful to say that they aren't apologizing for slavery, claiming that "they didn't have shit to do with slavery."

Black employees of PETA were unavailable for comment.

In related news, Racial Diversity and Sensitivity training has been slashed from PETA's budget citing wonderful race relations in PETA headquarters in Norfolk, VA. Instead, all employees take a trip to local plantations and quietly reflect on history.

It is gonna be amazing to see PETA representatives take responsibility for thier ethical fuck up - I don't think I have ever seen them take criticism effectively and are always made out to be the victim of harsh complaints...this should be QUITE interesting to say the very least...

Wow. That is unbelievable. I mean to think that that campaign actually was approved by person after person, and there was no one who said, "Eehhhh, I don't know about that one..." that it came up as an idea... fine. But that it was greenlighted and there was no one who EVER saw that there COULD be an issue with parallelling killing baby f*cking seals with HUMAN BEINGS. *sigh* This article has made me really angry. Everytime I think I can't be surprised...
